Our story

Built for players who play through pain

HeelBase was born on the pickleball court. Not in a boardroom, not in a lab. By players who know what it feels like when every step costs something.

Where it started

We were the ones limping off the court

In the spring of 2022, our founder finished a competitive doubles session and could not walk to the car without stopping. Plantar fasciitis. The diagnosis was familiar to anyone who plays pickleball seriously, but the solutions were not. Generic insoles. Generic advice. Nothing built for the lateral demands of the sport.

We spent the next two years testing, sourcing, and building the insole we wished had existed. The result is HeelBase Drive: a court-specific insole engineered around the movement patterns, load points, and recovery needs of pickleball players. Stance and Apex followed for daily wear and competitive play.

Why we exist

Pickleball has a foot problem

Most insoles are built for forward motion. Pickleball is lateral, explosive, and relentless.

  1. 01

    Plantar fasciitis

The stop-start lateral cutting of pickleball loads the plantar fascia in ways that running insoles were never designed to handle.

  2. 02

    Heel pain

Court shoes absorb vertical impact. The heel-loading during split steps and backpedal recoveries demands dedicated, court-specific support.

  3. 03

    Post-match soreness

Two-hour sessions add up fast. Without proper arch support, cumulative load means players pay for every match in the days that follow.

The build

Two years from idea to insole

From the first foam prototype to the finished lineup, every decision was tested on the court.

Sourcing
2022

Material sourcing

We tested dozens of foam compounds, carbon plates, and gel inserts against real court-load data before committing to a single spec.

Manufacturing
2022

Manufacturing partnership

Six months of factory visits led us to a sports orthotics manufacturer with the precision tooling our design required.

Prototyping
2023

Court prototype testing

Thirty-one versions tested across hundreds of hours by competitive players from 3.5 to 5.0 skill level. Court feedback shaped every revision.

Launch
2024

HeelBase Drive launches

What drives us

Built by players, for players

Court-specific geometry

Every contour and support zone is based on pickleball's lateral load patterns, not running or casual walking biomechanics.

Recovery is performance

The right support lets you play more and hurt less. Recovery is not the opposite of performance, it is the foundation of it.

Clinical backing

Our design follows established clinical guidelines for heel pain management. Science is a design constraint, not a marketing phrase.

No overpromising

HeelBase is a support product, not a cure. We are direct about what it does and what it does not. Your health deserves the truth.
