The right size. The right feel.
A well-fitted insole does more than sit in your shoe. Get the sizing, arch type, and installation right and you will feel the difference from the first step.
HeelBase insole · Sizing guide
Why fit matters
A good insole, badly sized, is just padding
Support only works when it sits in the right position. An insole that is too short leaves the heel unbraced. Too long and it folds under the toe box and migrates forward with every step. Too wide and it fights the shape of your shoe's last.
Every HeelBase insole is precision-engineered to tolerance, and that engineering only translates when the sizing is correct. This guide takes two minutes to read. The benefit carries over to every session.
Size chart
Choose your size
All HeelBase insoles are trim-to-fit. If you are between sizes, size up and trim to the exact shoe length using the included template.
Tip: measure both feet and size to the longer one. Most people have a small difference between left and right.
How to measure
Find your exact foot length in four steps
Prepare your surface
Place a blank sheet of paper on a hard floor. Stand on it in the socks you typically wear on court. Your weight should be evenly distributed.
Trace your outline
Have someone trace the outline of both feet, holding the pen vertically against your skin. Do not angle the pen inward or the tracing will read short.
Measure heel to toe
Using a ruler, measure the distance from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe on each tracing. Use the longer measurement.
Match to the chart
Find your foot length in centimetres in the size chart. If your measurement lands at a boundary between sizes, choose the larger size.
Arch type
Know your arch before you order
Every HeelBase insole supports all three arch types. Understanding yours helps set the right expectations for where you will feel the most benefit.
Low arch
Flat footMinimal arch height. The foot tends to roll inward under load, placing excess stress on the inside of the heel and arch. The HeelBase midfoot guidance system provides meaningful resistance to that inward collapse.
Neutral arch
NormalThe most common type. Load is distributed across the foot with natural alignment. HeelBase maintains that distribution under pickleball's lateral demands, where neutral feet can still overload the plantar fascia.
High arch
SupinatedHigh arches tend to roll outward. The heel and the ball of the foot absorb the most impact. HeelBase's dual-density foam zones help spread that concentrated load across a wider surface.
Installation
In your shoe in under a minute
If your shoe has a non-removable sockliner, place the HeelBase insole on top of it. You may need to move up half a shoe size to accommodate the added volume.
Remove the existing sockliner
Most court shoes have a removable sockliner. Pull it out from the toe end. Keep it nearby as a trimming template if needed.
Trim if needed
If the insole is slightly too long, place your original sockliner on top and trace the toe end with a pen. Cut along that line with sharp scissors. Trim from the toe only. Never cut the heel.
Insert heel-first, press flat
Drop the insole in with the heel end seated first. Press down firmly along the full length until it lies completely flat. No adhesive or tape is required. Lace your shoe as normal.
Fit questions
Before you order
Can I use HeelBase insoles in my existing court shoes?
Yes. HeelBase replaces the removable sockliner in most court shoes. If your shoe's sockliner cannot be removed, the insole can sit on top of it. In that case, you may need to size up half a shoe size to accommodate the extra volume.
What if I am between two sizes?
Size up. All HeelBase insoles are trim-to-fit. A larger size gives you the option to cut it down to your exact shoe length. A smaller size cannot be extended. When in doubt, measure your foot in centimetres and match to the chart.
My left and right foot are different lengths. What do I do?
More common than most people realise. Order based on your longer foot. Use the included template to trim the insole for the shorter foot. The trim is always at the toe end only.
Will HeelBase work in wide-fit court shoes?
In most wide-fit shoes the sockliner cavity is wider and HeelBase still sits correctly. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering and we will advise based on your specific shoe model.
How do I know when it is time to replace my HeelBase insole?
Drive and Apex are rated for 500 to 800 hours of court use; Stance lasts 8 to 10 months of daily wear. Signs it needs replacing: the arch feels noticeably less supportive, the foam no longer returns to its original shape after use, or the heel cup has visibly flattened.
